The Boston Comics Roundtable, a local indie comics group, is releasing Being True, an LGBTQ comics anthology that is an uplifting celebration of LGBTQ life and identity. The stories blend fiction and nonfiction, from fantasy and superhero comics to real and touching stories from the artists’ lives.
The anthology’s Kickstarter opens May 29. Individual copies will be available at $15 through the Kickstarter, as well as retailer packages of 3 and 5 copies. If you miss the Kickstarter, the book will be available in person at FlameCon, Boston Comic Con, and MICE, as well as at select Boston-area comic shops.
Contributors include writers and artists not only from the Boston Comics community but as far as Brazil and Poland. Renie Jesanis of the BCR created and directed the anthology. The editorial board also includes Stephanie Glass and Kyri Lorenz of the BCR. The board would like to give a special thanks to Donna Martinez.
The Boston Comics Roundtable is a local coalition of independent comics creatives open to all. They meet at Lesley University every Thursday from 7-8 and have regular art and script critique nights.
